I was introduced to the music of Conlon Nancarrow in the fall of 2016. His over-the-top, zany studies for player piano captivated me and I wanted to try my hand at creating something similar. My Study moves from information overload to a relative calm at the end, throughout using Nancarrow's beloved tempo canons: having voices echo each other at different speeds.
